INVITATION FOR BIDS

The City of Tawas City is seeking design build proposals for the reconstruction of Whittemore Street from US-23 through the intersections of Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Avenue including Sixth Avenue South from intersection of Whittemore Street to existing fire hydrant, Fourth Avenue South from the intersection of Whittermore Street to its end.  Also a portion of US-23 starting approximately 290 lft Southwest of the intersection of Whittemore Street and extending approximately 400 lft Northeast to alley way between Crystal Bay Restaurant and Tawas Lanes.  This project will be bid in its entirety with two parts.  Part I will be completed in the current year 2010 and Part II may be completed the following year of 2011.  Design build documents can be obtained at the City Hall of the City of Tawas City, 550 Lake Street, Tawas City, MI  48763.  The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals based upon the best interest of Tawas City.  Proposals will be received at City Hall no later than July 8^th, 2010 at 2 p.m. at which time proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud.   

Economic Development Opportunity in Tawas City

The City of Tawas City is offering a 1400 square foot steel building and property as an incubator for new development in the City of Tawas City industrial park. The facility has three phase power and process air available. Industrial based business's who can provide at-least two new full time positions at this facility may apply for possession of the structure and property. Modifications to the existing structure will be required and the property can be inspected by contacting the City Clerk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 989-362-8688.  Proposals will be received at Tawas City Hall 550 W. Lake Street, P.O. Box 568, Tawas City, MI 48764 from May 26th to June 15th. The City of Tawas City retains the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, whichever is in the best interest of the City.

 

Notice of Public Hearing

City of Tawas City

The City of Tawas City will hold a Public Hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Tawas City Hall, 550 W. Lake Street, Tawas City, Michigan.  The purpose of the public hearing is the first reading for the following ordinances:

1. Tawas City Ordinance No. 301 to regulate those individuals within the City of Tawas City, Michigan that are qualified patients or acting as primary caregivers pursuant to the provisions of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act and to provide penalties for violations.

2. Tawas City Ordinance No. 302 to amend the zoning code by adding Article 18, Section 18.46 by providing for medical marihuana dispensaries, their location, definitions, conditions and standards, and civil forfeiture, to provide for replealer, severability, and effective date.   

3. Tawas City Ordinance No. 303 to amend the zoning code to regulate and license pawn brokers and to prescribe certain powers and duties of the City of Tawas City with regard to that law as amended by Public Act 469 of 2002.

Written comments may be sent to the Tawas City Council, P. O. Box 568, Tawas City, MI  48764-0568 and must be received by June 2, 2010.  Copies of the draft ordinance are available for public review at the Clerk's Office at the Tawas City Hall, 550 W. Lake Street, Tawas City, Michigan.
